Andrew McDonald was born on June 5, 1981. He is the current coach of Australia’s cricket team and a former cricketer who played for South Australia and Victoria. He was born in Wodonga, Victoria, but currently resides in Geelong, Victoria.
He took part in his maiden Test match against South Africa on January 3, 2009, in Sydney. McDonald has also represented Australia at the under-19 level and played for the Prime Minister’s XI. He is a right-handed all-rounder who bats and bowlers right-arm medium-fast. McDonald captained the Australian A XI against South Africa in October or November 2012.
Following the conclusion of his playing career, he switched to teaching cricket. He has coached the Melbourne Renegades, Leicestershire County Cricket Club, and Victoria.
Andrew McDonald helped Victoria win the Sheffield Shield in his first season there. He was the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals and the bowling coach for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.
