2012 marked the year that Kiedis and the other members of his band were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Kiedis grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan with his mother before moving to Los Angeles to be closer to his father when he was twelve.
Kiedis met Flea and Hillel Slovak, future members of the band Anthem, while they were both students at Fairfax High School. Kiedis enrolled at UCLA after graduating from high school, but he left his sophomore year.
Kiedis recruited Flea, Slovak, and drummer Jack Irons when he was offered the chance to open for a local band. Soon after performing as Tony Flow and the Miraculously Majestic Masters of Mayhem, the band’s lineup shifted and they were known as the Red Hot Chili Peppers. As a member of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, he has made twelve full-length albums.

In 2004, he revealed that his paternal grandmother, Molly Vanderveen, was of “a patchwork of English, Irish, French, and Dutch (and, as we’ve recently found, some Mohican blood)” origin. Essentially, Anthony Kiedis shares the same ethnicity as his grandma.
