Inoki enrolled in a school by name Higashidai Elementary and learned karate from his older brother while he was in the sixth grade. Antonio Inoki then joined the basketball squad at Terao Junior High School when he was in the seventh grade and was about 180 centimeters tall. Later, he gave up on the basketball and became a shot putter for a track and field team. In the end, he eventually won in the track and field tournament at Yokohama Junior High School and took home the title.
