Inoki was born in an affluent family in Yokohama in 1943. He was the sixth son and the second-youngest of the seven boys and four girls. His father, Sajiro Inoki, a businessman and politician, died when Kanji was five years old. Inoki entered the Higashidai Grade School. Inoki was taught karate by an older brother while in 6th grade.

Antonio Inoki’s net worth is about $2 million as of 2022. Inoki met Rikidōzan at the age of 17 and went back to Japan for the Japan Pro Wrestling Alliance (JWA) as his disciple.
