There have been other instances in which a medical diagnosis of brain death has been contested by the patient’s parents or other family members. The courts in the UK have consistently reached the conclusion that therapy should be discontinued.

 

Archie Battersbee Accident: What Happened To Archie Battersbee?

 

The heartbreaking case of 12-year-old Archie Battersbee, who suffered significant brain damage following an accident at his Southend, Essex, home in early April, was heard in London’s high court. Tuesday will mark the removal of Archie Battersbee’s life support after the Court of Appeal rejected his parents’ last-ditch request to delay the procedure.

 

Judges on the Court of Appeal have informed the parents of the 12-year-old that they cannot delay Tuesday at 12 o’clock for the removal of life-sustaining care for their son.
