Aric Almirola attended the University of Central Florida to study mechanical engineering after graduating from Hillsborough High School in Tampa. He left to pursue a career in racing and never finished his degree.
Due to his Cuban ancestry, Almirola earned the nickname “The Cuban Missile” and began his racing career with go-karts at the age of eight.
However, the competitor put in a lot of work and started competing at the national level at age 14.
