Arlo Davy Guthrie is a famous retired American folk singer-songwriter. He was born on the 10th of June 1947 in Coney Island, Brooklyn, He was born to Woody Guthrie; who was a folk composer and singer, and Marjorie Mazia Guthrie; a dancer. Arlo has seven siblings and is the eldest child. He attended the Woodward School in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn but later moved to the Stockbridge School in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, graduating in the year 1965. Arlo briefly attended the Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana, and also received an honorary doctorate from Siena College in the year 1981 and also from Westfield State College in the year 2008.

He is well recognized for his storytelling songs and songs that criticize social injustice.
