Austin played baseball for the University of Washington Huskies from 2011 to 2013 after graduating from Kentwood High School.
Voth represented the Brewster Whitecaps of the Cape Cod Baseball League as a collegiate summer baseball player in 2011 and 2012. In 2011, he was recognized as an all-star for the league.
Voth was selected by the Washington Nationals in the fifth round of the Major League Baseball draft in 2013. That year, he made his professional debut with the Gulf Coast League Nationals of the Gulf Coast League’s rookie division.
