Following his birth, Marceau developed into a successful French actor and mime performer.

Throughout his career, he was known for his theatrical persona, “Bip the Clown” and notable for referring to mime as the “art of silence”.

Marceau performed professionally all around the world throughout a career that lasted more than six decades.

After growing up as a Jew in hiding, Marceau was able to work with the French Resistance during the most of World War II. He also gave his first significant performance to 3,000 soldiers after Paris was liberated in August.

Marceau was 84 years old when he passed away on September 22, 2007.
