Basic Recipes in Minecraft

Bed

The bed is a very useful item block that players can use to set respawn points. They are quite easy to make and only require 3 units of wool and wooden planks. The image shown below demonstrates how to craft a bed.

Crafting table

The crafting table is one of the most important blocks that players will need during their playthrough. You pretty much craft most of the items with the help of this utility block. The player can make a crafting table by using 4 units of any sort of wood plank. By arranging the wood planks in a 2×2 pattern, you can make a crafting table. The image shown below demonstrates how to craft a crafting table.

Storage Item Blocks

Storage item blocks such as chests, barrels, etc. are quite useful for storing items. They allow players to store a large number of items in a small area. The chest is the most commonly used item block as its crafting recipe is pretty simple and straightforward.

All you need is 8 blocks of any wood plank, by arranging them in an ‘O’ shape on the crafting table you will be able to craft a chest. The image shown below demonstrates how to craft a chest.

The barrel on the other hand is more convenient as compared to a chest as it is cheaper to make. Apart from this barrels can be used even when another block is placed directly above it.

All you need is 6 blocks of any wood plank and 2 slabs made of the same wood. To make a barrel, place the items in the 3×3 crafting grids as shown below.

Torch

The torch is a very useful utility item that can be crafted pretty quickly and it doesn’t require a crafting table to do so. You will need a stick and coal or charcoal.

By placing the coal/charcoal above a stick in a 2×1 pattern in the crafting grid you can make a torch. The image shown below demonstrates how to craft a torch.

Iron Ingots

Iron Ingots are an item that is obtained through smelting raw iron, combining iron nuggets, or deconstructing a block of iron. The most common way is smelting raw iron which is can be easily sourced from iron ore blocks found deep underground. By smelting a unit of raw iron in an active smelter you will receive an iron ingot.

By placing 9 iron nuggets in the 3×3 crafting grid of the crafting table you will be able to craft a single iron ingot.

And lastly, by playing a block of iron in any slot of the crafting grid you will get 9 units of iron ingots.

Gold Ingots

Gold Ingots are an item that is obtained through smelting raw gold, combining gold nuggets, or deconstructing a block of gold. The most common way is smelting raw gold which is can be easily sourced from gold ore blocks found deep underground. By smelting a unit of raw gold in an active smelter you will receive a gold ingot.

By placing 9 gold nuggets in the 3×3 crafting grid of the crafting table you will be able to craft a single gold ingot.

And lastly, by playing a block of gold in any slot of the crafting grid you will get 9 units of gold ingots.

Charcoal

Charcoal is an excellent alternative to coal as they both have the same fuel properties. They are pretty easy to obtain. By smelting any wooden log in a furnace you will receive charcoal from it. Charcoal has the same fuel and smelting value as coal making it a great substitute.

These are some of the basic recipes that will help players with surviving in the early stages. That doesn’t mean these aren’t helpful later on, these are recipes you should be able to pick off the top of your head allowing you to craft them in sticky situations.
