Bella Poarch was born in the Philippines on February 9, 1997, to Filipino parents. She was raised in the slums by her grandmother until the age of three when she was adopted. Her adoptive mother is Filipino and her adoptive father is American. The couple first met in Saudi Arabia, where her adoptive father was stationed, before relocating to the Philippines. She claims in an interview that she and her adopted brother suffered severe abuse from the time she was a young child until she enlisted in the military. Bella shared a farm with her adoptive parents, brother, two older (adopted) sisters, and other relatives.
Poarch currently resides in Los Angeles. Poarch has expressed her support for the Asian-American community on social media as reports of hate crimes against them have increased. Poarch also told Vogue that she can relate to the situation because she was “treated differently” and “randomly attacked and assaulted” as an Asian teen after moving to the United States from the Philippines.
