Turnbull’s career began in 1978 at the small-town Scottish radio station known as Radio Clyde. He then worked as a freelancer in the USA for a while, before becoming a correspondent for BBC News in 1990, Turnbull joined the BBC in 1986 as a reporter for the Today show and in 1988 as a reporter for Breakfast Time.
He has reported from more than 30 countries, covering a wide range of local and international issues, including a four-year term as a Washington Correspondent located in the USA. Sian Williams served as his producer for a period. He covered a number of significant American stories in this capacity, including as the O. J.
