Robert William Barker, popularly called Bob Barker, is a retired American television game show host, he was born on December 12, 1923, in Darrington, Washington. He is most known for presenting The Price Is Right on CBS from 1972 to 2007, making it the longest-running daytime game show in the annals of North American television. Barker was also the host of Truth or Consequences from 1956 to 1975.
Barker joined the US Navy during World War II, while attending college, he had a part-time radio job. He relocated to California in 1950 to further his broadcasting career. “The Bob Barker Show,” which aired for six years, was his own radio program. In 1956, he hosted Truth or Consequences to launch his game show career.
He hosted several game shows, which includes the Miss Universe and Miss USA pageants, which was from 1967 to 1987, and made him the longest – serving host in the pageants.
