Robert Norman Ross was born on (October 29, 1942 – July 4, 1995) was a painter, art instructor, and television host from the United States.

The Joy of Painting, an instructional television program that aired on PBS in the United States, CBC in Canada, and similar channels in Latin America, Europe, and elsewhere from 1983 to 1994.

Ross would later become well-known due to his posthumous internet presence. During these times, Bob’s life was divided into three parts:

His career as a drill sergeant in the United States Air Force, raising his son Steve, and his passion for painting.

Bob spent his free time painting and selling Alaskan-themed landscape paintings while stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Steve was born on August 1, 1966, as the first child of Bob Ross and his first wife, Vivian Ridge. Bob took sole custody of his son Steve when the couple divorced in 1977

Steve Ross, Bob Ross’ son, was a frequent guest on the hit television show “The Joy Of Painting.” Steve vanished after his father died and was not seen in public for years.

Until recently, that is.
