Bobby Murphy is an American soccer coach, who is currently the head coach of MLS Next Pro team St. Louis City 2. From 2003 until 2016, he coached the soccer academy at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, he was also the South Texas Youth Soccer Association’s director of coaching.
Murphy started working as an assistant coach for Major League Soccer’s Orlando City SC on January 15, 2016. However, on July 7, nearly seven months after Heath’s dismissal from his position, Murphy was named Orlando City’s temporary head coach.
On July 8, he coached his debut game as interim head coach against the Houston Dynamo, the game was a draw. After Jason Kreis was hired, Murphy resumed his duties as technical director and assistant coach of the club’s U.S. Soccer development academy.
He once more served as temporary head coach after Kreis was let go in 2018 until James O’Connor was hired; but O’Connor did not keep Murphy. He became an assistant coach with Union Omaha in March 2021, playing in USL League One.
