Grammy and Juno Award-winning conductor and composer BRAMWELL TOVEY. The head conductor of a concert orchestra situated in London, England, is Maestro Tovey, who works for the B.B.C. Since September 2018, he has also served as the Rhode Island Philharmonic’s art advisor.

He founded and served as the art adviser for the cutting-edge music school run by the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra in downtown Vancouver from 2000 to 2018. He also served as its music director from 2000 to 2018.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra’s longest-serving music director, Maestro Bramwell Tovey, has passed away.

The VSO said in a statement mourning Tovey’s passing that he served in the role from 2000 until 2018 when he was designated the organization’s music director emeritus.

According to a statement from the VSO, “Under his inspiring direction, the VSO earned Grammy and Juno awards and undertook ambitious tours of China, Korea, the US, and Canada.”

“The VSO School of Music, which is now in its 12th year, and The Tovey Centre for Music were both founded as a result of his dedication to music education.
