Later on, he got support from the Chicago Teachers Union, United Working Families, and progressive independent political groups in the 30th, 33rd, 35th, and 39th wards.
On October 23, Johnson’s campaign received a $1 million donation from the American Federation of Teachers if he decided to run. Johnson made his candidacy official on October 27.
