This terrible situation happened as a result of Marcellas Dial’s clumsy tackle, which caused McCoy’s right leg to become tangled beneath both players. By the time the play was through, McCoy was on his back and plainly injured. Out of the blue, he reached for his helmet out of instinct.

Due to the uncomfortable tackle made by South Carolina’s Marcellas Dial in the second quarter of Saturday’s game, Bru McCoy was forced to leave the field. McCoy had just finished an 18-yard catch-and-run play when this incident happened.

Although it seems unlikely that McCoy will play against South Carolina again, Tennessee coach Josh Huepel has not yet had a chance to give a thorough update on the severity of the injury.

Bru McCoy is an American college football wide receiver who is currently enrolled at the University of Tennessee, where he plays for the Tennessee Volunteers football team. His first college experience was at the University of Southern California (USC), where he played for the Trojans.

In high school, McCoy earned a five-star recruit ranking and was listed as the ninth-best recruit in the 2019 class. After making his initial commitment to USC, he changed his mind and decided to transfer to the University of Texas at Austin after only 17 days. His sense of betrayal over Kliff Kingsbury, the Trojans’ offensive coordinator, departing USC to take the head coaching job with the National Football League’s Arizona Cardinals, played a role in this decision.

McCoy made a huge impression during his first season at Tennessee, hauling in 21 passes for 236 yards and two touchdowns.
