Ewan competed for Australia in the road race at the 2014 Commonwealth Games at the beginning of August, prior to joining Orica-GreenEDGE.
The Australian team attempted to dominate the race leading up to Ewan’s sprint but was unsuccessful.
He attempted to pursue the three leaders alone but stumbled and was the last competitor to cross the finish line.
Out of 140 competitors, he placed 12th, more than 11 minutes behind gold medalist Geraint Thomas (Wales).
In the second and third stages of the 2015 Herald Sun Tour, he achieved his first professional victories.
He then claimed his second professional victory and the overall classification lead at the Tour de Langkawi a month later.
Ewan took the points classification and the second stage, his third career victory, despite losing the race’s overall lead.
He was listed as a starter for the 2015 Vuelta an Espaa, in which he won the fifth stage. However, he pulled out of the race during the tenth stage.
