Charles Joseph Crist Jr. who is also called Charlie Crist is an American lawyer and politician who has represented Florida’s 13th congressional district since 2017, whose district headquarters is St. Petersburg. Crist was born on July 24, 1956. From 2007 until 2011, he governed as Florida’s 44th governor. Before he got elected as governor in 2006, Crist began his political ambition as a Republican (GOP), serving in the Florida Senate from 1993 to 1999, he challenged incumbent Bob Graham in the 1998 U.S. Senate election, and then served as Florida Education Commissioner from 2001 to 2003 and Florida Attorney General from 2003 to 2007.
Crist entered the U.S. Senate race while he was still governor. When the state GOP leadership decided not to support Crist’s election campaign, he lost the elections to Marco Rubio in the polls after earlier leading the battle for the Republican nomination in 2010. In April 2010, Crist left the Republican Party to run as an independent.
