CK Akonnor names his first 23-man-squad as head coach of the Black Stars

Coach CK Akonnor has named his first Black Stars call-up and it came with some surprises.

The biggest was the exclusion of notable players like Asamoah Gyan, Kwadwo Asamoah, Jonathan Mensah and Christain Atsu from the squad.

Another pleasant surprise was the inclusion of three local-based players in the list. These players are Hearts of Oak goalie, Richard Attah, Asante Kotoko’s Habib Mohammed and Ashgold defender, Kwadwo Amoako.

Aduana Stars striker, Yahaya Mohammed, earned a call-up to the men’s senior national team as well.

Ghana faces Sudan in Cape Coast, in the first match on March 27, with the next game in Sunda on March 31.
