Cleopatra husband: who was Cleopatra married to?

After Ptolemy XII passed away in 51 BCE, his young son, Ptolemy XIII, and his daughter, Cleopatra VII, inherited the throne of Egypt. It is quite possible, but not absolutely certain, that the couple wed not long after their father passed away. Cleopatra, who was only 18 years old when she became the main monarch, was approximately eight years older than her brother.

Cleopatra did end up marrying Mark Antony, and the couple went on to have three children together; yet, their connection was also the source of a major controversy in Rome. Antony’s adversary Octavian spread propaganda that portrayed him as a traitor who was controlled by a cunning seductress, and in 32 B.C., he was assassinated as a result.
