Beasley accepted a scholarship to play wide receiver at Southern Methodist University, where he played in 11 games with seven starts as a freshman, finishing third on the team with 42 receptions for 366 yards and three touchdowns.
Due to his size, Beasley went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft and was signed by his home state team, the Dallas Cowboys. Beasley abruptly left training camp, citing “personal issues,” and even considered retiring from professional football.
