Cole McWard, is an American professional ice hockey defenceman, for the Vancouver Canucks of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on June 9, 2001, and he is known for participating in collegiate hockey, at The Ohio State University.
In the 2017 United States Hockey League Phase I draught, McWard was selected by the Tri-City Storm at number 80 overall while playing for the St. Louis AAA Blues in 2016–17.
He played with the Westminster Wildcats at Westminster Christian Academy, where he helped them win back-to-back state titles, even though he continued to play for the Blues through 2018.
McWard was a member of Team USA triumphed at the 2017 Under-17 Five Nations Tournament in Ostrava, Czech Republic, as a result of his excellent play.
He made his USHL debut on December 28, 2017, after being called up from the affiliate list, but he spent the rest of the season with the Wildcats and Blues.
He ended the Wildcats’ 2017–2018 campaign with 14 goals and 16 assists for a total of 30 points. McWard joined the Tri-City Storm full-time for the 2018–19 campaign, and on November 9 of that year, he netted his first USHL goal.
