Conan Christopher O’Brien, an American television host, comedian, actor, writer, podcaster, and producer, was born on April 18, 1963. His late-night talk show hosting career spans nearly 28 years, starting with Late Night with Conan O’Brien (1993-2009), The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien (2009–2010), and Conan (2010–2021) on the cable network TBS. He wrote for The Simpsons and Saturday Night Live from 1988 to 1991 before beginning his hosting career (1991–1993).

O’Brien was raised in a Catholic Irish home and was born in Brookline, Massachusetts. While a student at Harvard University, he presided over The Harvard Lampoon and wrote for the sketch comedy program Not Necessarily the News. After penning material for a number of comedic programs in Los Angeles, he joined Saturday Night Live’s writing staff. O’Brien wrote and produced The Simpsons for two seasons before being hired by NBC in 1993 to succeed David Letterman as host of Late Night.
