Teddy Atlas and Kevin Rooney were just two of the well-known boxing coaches that D’Amato instructed. Cus D’Amato was known for advocating the peek-a-boo method of boxing, which prevents an effective attack from being made by having the fighter grab his gloves close to his face and pull his arms tight against his torso. This style of boxing attracted widespread criticism for this reason.
