Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott recently shared that he underwent an 11-hour sedation while getting a tattoo in the spring. This practice, popular among celebrities and star athletes, was performed by Andres Ortega of the Arizona tattoo shop Onder Link. Notable figures like musicians Post Malone and Offset, along with Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., have also opted for sedation during their tattoo sessions.

Rather than undergoing multiple sessions for a large leg tattoo, Prescott chose to complete the process in a single session, made possible by the sedation. The tattoo is a tribute to significant individuals in Prescott’s life, including his late mother and brother, as well as sports icons who have inspired him, like Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and Muhammad Ali.

Prescott did not inform any Cowboys coaches or executives beforehand but later informed head coach Mike McCarthy, who was surprised by the size of Prescott’s leg. Owner Jerry Jones only learned about it after being notified by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and expressed his surprise at the extensive sedation required for the tattoo.

At 30 years old, Prescott signed a lucrative four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Cowboys in 2021, securing his presence with the team until at least 2024. With two Pro Bowl appearances and an NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year title in 2016, Prescott has established himself as a pivotal figure in the NFL. He boasts a regular-season record of 61-36 and impressive passing statistics of 24,943 yards, 166 touchdowns, and 65 interceptions over seven seasons.

While Prescott aims to reduce turnovers in the upcoming 2023 season, the Cowboys’ offense is expected to maintain its explosiveness, with CeeDee Lamb and Tony Pollard as his primary weapons. The 2023 season kicks off for Dak and the Cowboys as they face the New York Giants in a Sunday night matchup on the road.
