David Jude Jolicoeur, popularly known as Trugoy the Dove is a rapper, producer, and also singer. Throughout his career, Jolicoeur has been known for his smooth, melodic flow and his unique sense of humor.

Jolicoeur was born to Haitian-American parents on September 21, 1968, in Brooklyn, New York, but he was raised in the East Massapequa hamlet of Long Island.

However, in 1980, Jolicoeur, along with his friends Vincent Mason, and Kelvin Mercer who went to the same high school in the Amityville neighborhood of Long Island, made the decision to start a rap group.

The members of the group were referred to be “the hippies of hip hop” by reviewers and journalists, which was due to their quirky sense of style and the upbeat messages on their debut album, however, a title that the group was quick to refute, when they release their second album, was De La Soul Is Dead in 1991.
