He spent most of his years as a footballer playing for The Rangers Football Club. Wilson also played for the Scotland national team winning 22 caps for the team.

According to records, he supported the Rangers Football Club at a young age. Wilson was rejected for the reason of being too small by Cambuslang Ranger junior club when he was a teenager.

Davie Wilson became a manager and managed the Scotland national team and other club teams like Dumbarton, Queen of the South and was an assistant manager to other club teams.

A year ago, his family confirmed to the public that Davie Wilson had dementia, a condition caused as a result of brain disease or injury which is characterized by memory disorder and impaired reasoning.

According to sources, he died of the same disease.
