Deandre Edoneille Chidike Ayton (born July 23, 1998) is a professional basketball player from the Bahamas who currently plays for the Phoenix Suns of the NBA. He was a consensus five-star talent in the Class of 2017 and a McDonald’s All-American while playing for the Arizona Wildcats in the Pac-12 Conference in 2017–18. The Suns selected Ayton with the first overall choice in the 2018 NBA draft.

Ayton’s father is of Igbo ethnicity from Nigeria, and his mother is from Jamaica and the Bahamas. To play high school basketball, Ayton relocated from the Bahamas to San Diego, California.
Ayton donated $100,000 to various relief efforts in the days following Hurricane Dorian’s landfall in the Bahamas, and on September 10, 2019, he conducted a relief drive to collect additional goods and donations for individuals affected by the storm.
Ayton’s first child, Deandre Obinna Ayton, Jr., was born on March 6, 2021.
