On April 3, 2013, Golden Boy Promotions revealed that Wilder would make his UK debut on April 27 at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield against former European heavyweight champion and 2000 Olympic gold medalist Audley Harrison (31-6, 23 KOs). After winning the prizefighter heavyweight tournament two months prior, Harrison entered this fight looking to rebound. The main event of the card, which was broadcast live on Showtime in the United States, featured Amir Khan’s comeback fight against Julio Diaz. Harrison said that if he lost, he would stop competing.
