Lamarr was enrolled in acting classes in Vienna when, using a fake note from her mother, she managed to get a job as a script girl at Sascha-Film. She was able to secure a part as an extra in Money on the Street (1930) and later a brief speaking role in Storm in a Water Glass while she was there (1931).

On the other hand, on June 28, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York, Melvin Kaminsky was born. After serving in the military during World War II, he found work as a drummer in Catskills nightclubs. Before moving to television, Brooks first worked in radio before beginning a comedy act. He also held the position of Master Entertainer at Grossinger’s Resort.

Mel Brooks was sued by Hedy Lamarr for using the name Hedley Lamarr; the case was eventually settled out of court. Brooks remarked that he felt honored by the attention.
