Lamarr was enrolled in acting classes in Vienna when, using a fake note from her mother, she managed to get a job as a script girl at Sascha-Film. She was able to secure a part as an extra in Money on the Street (1930) and later a brief speaking role in Storm in a Water Glass while she was there (1931).

Before moving to television, Brooks first worked in radio before beginning a comedy act. He also held the position of Master Entertainer at Grossinger’s Resort.
