Each military service is assigned a certain job and authority. While the US Navy and Marine Corps conduct maritime operations, the US Army conducts land operations.

In support of the Navy, the Marine Corps specializes in amphibious and marine littoral operations.

While the US Space Force is in charge of space operations, the US Air Force is in charge of air operations. The United States Armed Forces have significant capabilities in both defense and power projection as a result of its large budget and the ensuing sophisticated and potent technology.
