According to his relatives, Nichols is from California but moved to Memphis approximately a year ago, possibly for business. Although nothing is known about Nichols’ personal life at the time of writing, his family say he had two siblings: a sister and a brother.
On January 7th, 2023, five Memphis police officers apprehended and blocked Tyre Nichols. When police approached the driver, there was a skirmish, and he escaped before being apprehended by the pursuing policemen, who held him. Tyre Nichols was transported to the hospital after complaining of breathing problems.
Tadarrius Bean, Demetrius Haley, Emmitt Martin III, Desmond Mills Jr., and Justin Smith are the cops involved, according to a Memphis Police public relations officer. All five cops implicated were fired from the force.
