The entrepreneur paid a lot of attention to the image of the drink. Mateschitz associated the Red Bull brand with adventure sports like surfing, mountain biking, and cliff diving with the company eventually being involved as a sponsor in a lot of them.

Officials with the Red Bull racing team at the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas, announced Mateschitz’s death Saturday. There was no immediate word where he died or a cause of death.
