In 1999, Dan Snyder purchased the Washington Redskins from Jack Kent Cooke’s estate. Snyder’s ownership of the team has been controversial, with frequent accusations of toxic workplace culture as well as the team’s poor performance on the field.

Since Snyder took over the team in 1999, the team’s annual revenue has increased from more than $100 million to around $245 million by 2005. Snyder has served on the Broadcast Committee, the Business Ventures Committee, the Digital Media Committee, the International Committee, the Stadium Committee, and the Hall of Fame Committee. Dan Snyder is also a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Board of Trustees. Since Snyder purchased the Washington Commanders, the team has had a losing record (156-212-1 through the end of the 2021 season) and ten head coaches in twenty-three seasons. During his tenure, Washington has never advanced beyond the Divisional Round.
