James Dansby Swanson, who was born on February 11, 1994, is an American professional baseball shortstop who plays for the Atlanta Braves in the Major League Baseball (MLB) (MLB).

During the 2015 MLB Draft, he was the first player picked by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Swanson was born in Kennesaw, Georgia. His parents were both athletes at Troy University. As a child, Swanson cheered for the Braves.

At Marietta High School, he was called “Three-Point Swanson” because of how good he was at basketball, which is how he got the name.

Even though the Colorado Rockies picked Swanson in the 38th round of the 2012 MLB Draft, he didn’t sign with them and instead went to Vanderbilt to play college baseball.

He missed his first year of college baseball because of injuries, but he came back as Vanderbilt’s starting second baseman and had a big year.

In addition to their batting gloves and an arm sleeve, Swanson wears spikes and turfs manufactured by Nike.

At the plate, Dansby swings either a Marucci or a Louisville Slugger bat. Along with the rest of his equally stylish comrades, he wears a wrist compression brace made by Evoshield and striped socks made by Stance.
