Pelosi was born into an Italian-American household in Baltimore. She was Annunciata M. “Nancy” D’Alesandro’s (née Lombardi)[9] only daughter and the youngest of seven children. Her mother was born in Fornelli, Isernia, Molise, in southern Italy, and immigrated to the United States in 1912; her father’s Italian ancestors could be traced back to Genoa, Venice, and Abruzzo. Nancy’s father was a Democratic congressman from Maryland at the time she was born.
After seven years, he was elected Mayor of Baltimore. Pelosi’s mother was involved in politics as well, organizing Democratic women and teaching her daughter the importance of social networking.
