Janja Lalich is a sociologist and writer from the United States Of America. The fundamental reason for Lalich’s broad notoriety is his status as a preeminent authority on cults and compulsion, charismatic authority, power relations, ideology, and social control.
Lalich was born in 1945, her parents came to the United States from Serbia. Lalich earned his doctorate in Human and Organizational Systems from Santa Barbara’s Fielding Graduate University.
In the 1970s, Lalich joined the Democratic Workers Party in California, a radical Marxist-Leninist group. Lalich was a member of the group for about ten years without realizing at first that the group was a cult.
Lalich says she couldn’t talk about any of her problems or worries while she was in the group. Dr. Lalich has written much about cults and religions for academic journals, and she just retired from teaching sociology at California State University, Chico.
