The biggest hits for Aswad are Don’t Turn Around (1988), Shine and Give a Little Love (1994), and a cover of Share a Dream that they gave at Wembley Stadium in London in 1989 alongside Sir Cliff Richard.

On Friday, September 2, 2022, his Aswad bandmates shared the tragic news of his passing in a moving Facebook post. The statement reads, “We have to announce the passing of our brother Angus ‘Drummie’ Gaye with the utmost grief and terrible loss. Drummie is “highly liked and revered by both family, friends, and peers alike,” it continues. “Drummie was the lead vocalist for the legendary band Aswad.” However, his cause of death was not mentioned.
