He grew up in a family of six siblings and was educated in Rwanda and France. He obtained a degree in Economics from the National University of Rwanda in 1999.
Prior to his appointment as Prime Minister, Ngirente worked as a lecturer at the National University of Rwanda and also served as an economic advisor to the government.
He was appointed as Minister of Finance and Economic Planning in 2017 before being appointed as Prime Minister by President Paul Kagame later that year.
