For the KAHA Queer Youth Hui in 2007, Kerekere, who has long been interested in queer youth work, took part and wrote the first set of takatpui youth group guidelines. In 2008, she started collaborating with the OUT THERE! National Queer Youth Development Project, which provided guidance, resources, and help for starting youth organizations.
