Page was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on February 21, 1987, to teachers Martha Philpotts and Dennis Page.

He was born female and used the name Ellen before transitioning.

Page attended Halifax Grammar School until the 10th grade before transferring to Queen Elizabeth High School.

Page studied in the Interact Program at Vaughan Road Academy with a close friend and fellow Canadian actor Mark Rendall after graduating from the Shambhala School in 2005.

Page has also received praise and recognition for her roles in The Tracey Fragments (2007), Whip It (2009), Super (2010), Inception (2010), and Tallulah (2012). (2012). (2016).

He also starred as Kitty Pryde in the X-Men films The Last Stand (2006) and Days of Future Past (2014), produced Freeheld (2015), and made his directorial debut with the documentary There’s Something in the Water (2019).
