The defamation trial between Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard, which has been the subject of much media attention, has concluded. Depp is suing Heard for $100 million, while Heard is suing Depp for $50 million.
During their marriage, both parties accuse the other of being violent, and each denies the other’s accusations. The trial will last six weeks; Heard has yet to testify in her own defence but will do so at a later date to be set.
Elon Musk to testify for Amber Heard?
Elon Musk was listed as a possible pre-trial witness in Amber Heard’s defamation action against Johnny Depp, her ex-husband, in pre-trial paperwork. Potential witnesses include James Franco and Paul Bettany.
Musk’s willingness to testify endlessly is, however, unknown. Witness lists in the United States are fluid, and simply being listed as a potential witness does not guarantee that someone would show up and testify.
Musk and Amber Heard dated from the summer of 2016 through August of 2017 when Musk is said to have called it quits. “She broke up with me more than I broke up with her,” Musk later admitted in a Rolling Stone interview.
In regards to their libel action, Musk has previously urged that Depp and Heard “buried the hatchet and move on.” He went on to say, “Life is too short for such prolonged negativity.”
