Van Egmond was born and raised in Newcastle, Australia, with her parents, Gary and Annette, twin brother Max, and sister Laura.
Van Egmond made her professional debut for Canberra United in her home country of Australia in 2009. Prior to joining the Newcastle Jets for the 2012-2013 season, she represented Fortuna Hjorring in the UEFA Women’s Champions League in 2011.
She played in the summer league with the Western New York Flash and helped them win the championship.
Van Egmond played for the Young Matildas under-20 team. At the age of 17, she competed in her first FIFA Women’s World Cup, scoring in a 3-2 victory over Equatorial Guinea.
