She currently swims with the Griffith University as a butterfly swimmer in the freestyle category. McKeon is currently being coached by Michael Bohl, her father’s friend and swimming partner. She is a four-time world record holder in the 4 ×100 metre relay.
She has been honoured by Queen Elizabeth II as a Member of the Order of Australia in 2022 during the Australia Day Honours.
Born on 24 May 1994 in Wollongong, New South Wales, Australia, her parents are Ron McKeon and Susie McKeon. Her siblings are Kaitlin McKeon and David Mckeon.

David McKeon is the older brother of Emma McKeon. He was born on 25 July 1992 in Wollongong, New South Wales in Australia. He is also a competitive swimmer who has won a gold medal in the 400 metres freestyle. He is currently being coached by his father, Ron McKeon. Ron McKeon is also a former four-time Commonwealth gold medalist and two-time Olympian.
