Emmett Louis Till commonly referred to as Emmett Till was born in Chicago, Illinois on 25th July 1938.
He is known for his sad story after he was accused by Carolyn Bryant of harassment and flirting.
He was abducted by Carolyn’s husband and half-brother for torture and was later murdered and thrown into the Tallahatchie River.
Fourteen-year-old torture and murder victim Emmett was diagnosed with polio when he was five years old. He bounced back, although he still had a little stutter. He was unwell as a child, but he was a cheerful boy as he grew up.
He died at the age of 14 on August 28, 1955.

Emmett Till was born to an American educator and activist Mamie Till, his mother and Louis Till, his father.
Emmett’s father Louis unfortunately passed away as a soldier in World War 2. He was executed by hanging on July 2, 1945, at the age of 21.
According to several sources, the father and son never met.
