Erin Foster and Jeremy Bechtel, two missing teenagers from White County, have been conclusively identified as the bodies discovered in a car buried in the Calfkiller River at the beginning of December.
On December 1, 2021, independent diver Jeremy Sikes discovered the automobile that had eluded searchers for more than 21 years in their quest to find the teenagers who had vanished in April 2000. The search had been restricted to the western portion of the county until Sikes learned from White County Sheriff Steve Page that the adolescents might have been seen in town and travelling on Highway 84 after leaving a party.
Sikes finally found Foster’s automobile in the Calfkiller River after employing his sonar equipment.
The identification of the bodies found inside the car as those of Jeremy Bechtel and Erin Foster was confirmed this week, Page said. Dental records were used by the medical examiner at the centre for forensic evidence to identify the remains of Jeremy Bechtel and Erin Foster positively, respectively, born on February 28, 1982, and August 7, 1982.

The bodies of Foster and Bechtel were later discovered in the car after going missing for 21 years.
According to police speculation, Foster lost control of her car while travelling on a part of Highway 84 without a guardrail in 2000.
The police investigation was still ongoing as of July 2022, but suspicion of foul play has been eliminated.
In 2022, graves were dug for Foster and Bechtel’s corpses.
