Haaland was born on July 21, 2000, in Leeds, England, despite his parents being Norwegian. His father, Alfie Haaland, was a former Premier League footballer for Leeds United.
Gry Marita Braut, his mother, is also an athlete who competed in heptathlon competitions. When Haaland was three years old, his family relocated to Bryne, his parents’ homeland in Norway.
Haaland started playing soccer as a kid. He did, however, engage in various other activities such as handball, golf, and track and field. He primarily focused on soccer and began playing in the academy of his hometown club, Bryne, when he was five.
By the 2015-2016 season, Haaland was playing for Bryne’s reserve squad. He made a strong initial impression, scoring eighteen goals in only fourteen games. He was thus allowed to make his debut with Bryne in 2016.
In 2017, he was offered a trial by the German team 1899 Hoffenheim before joining Molde. He made his debut for the club in a Norwegian Cup match in April of 107. He ended his debut season at Molde with four goals in twenty games.
Haaland 2018 season was even more successful, as he helped the squad overcome the league’s unbeaten leaders, Brann, in July. He ended the season as Molde’s leading goal scorer and was named Eliteserien Breakthrough of the Year.
Red Bull Salzburg, the Austrian Bundesliga winners, announced in August 2018 that they had signed Haaland to a five-year contract that began on January 1, 2019.
Borussia Dortmund revealed in December 2019 that they will sign Haaland to a four-and-a-half-year contract as soon as the transfer market opened.
Borussia Dortmund confirmed in May 2022 that Haaland would be leaving the club to join Manchester City in the Premier League. Manchester City announced in May that they had agreed to sign Haaland after triggering his costly release clause.
Haaland is presently playing for Manchester City, where he is setting several records.
