Garrett played college baseball at San Diego State University while attending Analy High School in Sebastopol, California.
In the 26th round of the 2018 Major League Baseball Draft, the Detroit Tigers selected him. That year, while playing for the Gulf Coast Tigers, he made his debut in the professional game.
The Tigers acquired Hill’s contract on July 3, 2022, and added him to the active roster. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic forcing the cancellation of the Minor League Baseball season, he did not play in 2020.
